Guidelines for Submission to The Creative Space

1.      All consignors must be members in good standing of the Washington Art Association.  Member's dues must be paid at time of submission.  The Creative Space chairperson reserves the right to refuse work of any member whose dues are not current.

2.
WAA retains 30% of the sale price for commission.  Artists are paid by check bi-monthly for items sold.

3.     Work may remain on consignment in The Creative Space for a period of one year.
Items unsold after one year must be removed or replaced with new work.

4.     All artists are advised to carry their own insurance for work on consignment in
The Creative Space.
In the event of fire, work in The Creative Space will not be covered under the WAA fire insurance.

5.     All artists must completely fill out an inventory sheet (provided by WAA) before submitting work to The Creative Space.  No work will be accepted without a properly filled out inventory sheet.  Homemade inventory sheets will not be accepted.  Please be sure to include the date the work was brought for consignment. Extra inventory sheets may be obtained by contacting the WAA administrator at 860-868-2878.

6.     All items must be tagged (coded) with the artistīs initials, item number and price.  No untagged work will be accepted.  The code consists of the artistīs initials and item number. It is not the responsibility of WAA or The Creative Space committee to tag work.  In the event of two consigning artists having the same initials,  The Creative Space reserves the right to change the code of the newest consignor.

7.     Number items sequentially to avoid redundancy and confusion.   Do NOT begin to number items from #1 at the beginning of the year.  Continue numbering from the last numbered piece.  (Example:  if the last item for 1997 was #407, then the next item consigned in 1998 will be #408).  List each item separately, with a code number (initials and item number) for each piece to be consigned.  Do not list as: 12 @ $4.00 each!

8.     The Creative Space committee will display consigned work accordingly.  Consigning artists will not display work without prior permission from the Upstairs Gallery Shop chairperson.

9.     Unframed artwork must be either properly matted and covered with either shrink wrap or bags specifically designed for artwork. Note cards or post cards must also be protected in a similar fashion.
Improperly protected or poorly mounted work will not be accepted.

10.     No mass-produced or manufactured work (with the exception of postcards and notecards) will be accepted for consignment in The Creative Space.  All work must be the original creation of the consignor. Absolutely NO artificial flower/greenery arrangements!
